Cataloguing digital images is expensive and time consuming, but when we focus on co-depiction metadata we create a family of documents that become more interesting whenever a new document is added to the Web.
We can use RDF to say things like 'this bit depicts the person whose email address is charles@w3.org;...'.

Depiction of prophet banned for respect - Boston.com
The widespread prohibition in the Islamic world against depicting the Prophet Muhammad springs from concern that even well-intentioned images could lead to idolatry or show disrespect for a figure Islam considers the model of human perfection.
Some clerics and scholars, mostly Shiites, say Muhammad could be depicted if the artist's intentions are sincere and the drawings follow the general descriptions of the prophet in religious books.
While no hadith directly bans depicting Muhammad, there are several that frown on depictions of any living creature, animal or human, on the grounds that it could lead to idolatry and that it presumes man has the same creative power as God.

 2D Structure Depiction in MOE
Structure depiction in MOE is achieved by classifying the molecular structure graph into various segments, and generating sets of locally "possibilities" for each segment.
While depiction of some types of ring blocks can be a difficult task, a ring block layout has no degrees of freedom (except its mirror image), and so it is quite valid to express all of the constituent atoms in a single block constraint.
The depiction algorithm, and 2D graphical display of molecular diagrams, have been introduced to a number of panels in the MOE user interface, such as the Database Browser and specific 2D Molecule viewer.

 Similarity and Depiction
It seemed obvious: a picture depicts what it depicts because it looks like it; it resembles it; it is similar to it in point of visual appearance.
Goodman observed that no degree of similarity is either necessary or sufficient for depiction, or for representation in general[1].
So Schier is adopting a fairly strict notion of what counts as depiction, which has much to do with some perceptual similarity between the representation and the object; and this is what natural generativity is supposed to capture.

The Rules of Comedy: Moliere and the Art of Depiction
Comedy is associated with dramatic structure (a "principal action") and a coherent foundation; farce with loose depictions of social conditions unworthy of representation.
Though his own portrait of the efféminé shows the extent to which moralist writing is rife with the same tensions between transformation and duplication, there is nevertheless no doubt that for the classical age comedy--linked as it is with visual portraiture--is the privileged battleground for competing norms of mimesis.
The transparency of the depiction is thus incarnated in the transparency of its creation: the public crafts its own self-portrait, undiluted by the hand of the artist.

 Representation/Depiction
That is, a depiction of something shows you the thing itself, while a representation of the thing is not the thing, it is a pointer to that thing.
While a representation might mean the same thing as a depiction, there is always a step of interpretation between the representation and the thing itself.
Consider this example of the detrimental effects of over-specified depiction: suppose that you wish to communicate a simple idea about home safety &emdash; that you shouldn't leave electrical wires lying about on the floor, especially across high-traffic areas.

Depiction and the Sense of Reality   (Site not responding. Last check: )
In saying that the depiction is realistic we are not appealing to a close resemblance between the depiction and the subject matter (we're not claiming that the canal looked just like that).
To endow a depicted person with a quality such as 'being slumped in exhaustion' or 'being about to move' is to endow them with characteristics that are central to our sense of the reality of other people as independent of us and alive: as 'real'.
A special way in which temporality enters a depiction is in the evocation of our sense of a particular moment, a particularity not connected to duration (as in the example just discussed) but to something else which it is harder to define.

Its depiction is more like a lion however for it has lost its humps somewhere in artistic history.
