Prime Minister of New Zealand - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Prime Minister of New Zealand is New Zealand's head of government and is the leader of the party or coalition with majority support in the Parliament of New Zealand.
The Prime Minister is regarded by convention as "first among equals" — he or she does indeed hold the most senior post in the administration, but is also required to adhere to any decisions taken by Cabinet.
New Zealand is also one of the few countries in the world to have had two female heads of government, and one of only two countries to have two females heads of government directly succeed the other.

Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand is second most senior officer in the Government of New Zealand, although this seniority does not necessarily translate into power.
Generally, the position is held by the deputy leader of the ruling party, but now that the MMP electoral system makes coalitions more likely, the role may increasingly go to the leader of a junior party.
The post of Deputy Prime Minister was established in 1949.

Rt Hon Don McKinnon (born February 27, 1939) is a former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand.
When Prime Minister Robert Muldoon called the snap election of 1984, and was defeated by David Lange's New Zealand Labour Party, McKinnon remained senior Whip for his party in Opposition.
In late 2003, New Zealand media reported that Zimbabwe was attempting to gather support from other Commonwealth members to remove McKinnon from the office of Secretary-General, presumably in retaliation for McKinnon's views about the issue of Zimbabwean democracy.

Letter to Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Jim Anderton
Under this protocol, New Zealand is required to actively manage its indigenous forests to conserve biological diversity, maintain productive capacity, maintain forest ecosystems, conserve soil and water, maintain the contribution to the carbon cycle, maintain multiple socio-economic benefits and meet the needs of society, and maintain legal institutional and governmental frameworks for conservation and management.
New Zealand uses significant volumes of high-quality indigenous timber from other countries, many of which do not or can not manage their indigenous forests sustainably.
It is hypocritical of New Zealand to turn its back on the innovative and example-setting process that TWC proposed to sustainably manage some of the beech forest for both conservation and timber production, and at the same time use the indigenous timbers from other countries that have been harvested in a non-renewable way.

Betrayal by the Government of a large section of New Zealand's population became overt under Muldoon and that betrayal darkened, deepened and intensified under the Lange, Palmer, Moore, Bolger, Bolger/Peters, Shipley/Peters and Shipley/Kopou administrations.
The outcome was that decent New Zealanders found themselves living lives of quiet desperation in the knowledge that mean-spirited global materialism had become the country's motivating imperative.

US bullies New Zealand prime minister into apologising over war comments   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
New Zealand Labour Prime Minister, Helen Clark, has been bullied into extending a demeaning formal apology to the Bush administration for disparaging comments she made over the conduct of the war in Iraq.
In support, the letter cited New Zealand’s “major contribution to the campaign against terrorism”—a reference to the government’s commitment of SAS troops to Afghanistan and a naval frigate to the Gulf of Oman.
Clark’s attempt to project a slightly critical attitude to the invasion of Iraq was dictated by the perceived need within New Zealand ruling circles to sustain a careful balancing act between its “old friends” in the US and Australia on the one hand, and Europe on the other.

Even though efforts to import this sometimes deadly disease into New Zealand have the facade of "due process", from my vantage point it appears that the program has become fixated on how to use or misuse "science" to manipulate the public including the farmers, the media, and the decision makers, to orchestrate RHD approval.
The Australian report released for general information and sent on to New Zealand stated there was no evidence of adverse human health effects and no antibody to RHD in the human population.
Ideally, a Prime Ministers' special panel to answer the simple question "should a wild calicivirus genotype be used as a biologic weapon against any animal species" could be drawn from a committee of many years standing that is already functioning as the most internationally accepted and respected group of calicivirologists in the world.
