Derby's luck didn't get any better and they were relegated to the Football League's Second Division for the first time in 1907, but they regained their First Division place in 1911.
Derby finished 20th in the 2003-2004 First Division campaign, but improved dramatically in the 2004-2005 season and finished 4th in the Football League Championship (the new name for the Football League First Division) and qualified for a promotion play-off spot, though lost in the semi-finals to Preston North End.
Details of Derby's final league position is given (from 1888, when The Football League was founded), along with which round they made it to in both the FA Cup, the League Cup (which began in 1960) and any European competitions that they had qualified for.

Derby County Football Club has a proud boast in being one of the founder members of the Football League in 1884.
The early years of the 1900's was dominated by STEVE BLOOMER, a prominent Derby striker, whose record of 332 goals for the Rams (to 1913) is unlikely ever to be beaten, at least not in the current football climate.
After escaping from that division two years later, Derby spent the early part of the 1960s struggling in the Second Division, but it was only in the later half of the decade that saw the Rams making several important signings that was to lead to the most successful decade in their history.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to Derby until about 2:15, so had to go more or less straight to the ground, it was a fairly long walk, although there was a steady stream of home fans, so I followed them, and got there without too many hitches.
Derby had only just been relegated from the Premiership and everyone was expecting them to do well in this division, but we took the lead through Alex Rae and were looking the better team.
The rest of the half was end to end, with both teams pressing for goals, and Derby thought they had taken the lead again on 30 minutes, but to our delight, it was ruled out for offside and kept the scores level at half time.

If you take out last seasons disastre Derby have finished 16th, 12th and 8th respectivly since gaining promotion from division one and moving from the Baseball ground to Pride Parl.
When Derby finished 8th their squad was significantly weaker than it is now, so i think that this season derby will be staying up for for and i see no reason why derby can not challange for Europe and win a cup.
One reason why i think Derby County FC can achieve this because of their loyal fans.
