The Derby Heritage Society meet once per month in the main room of the Centre.
The Trust is dedicated to preserving Derby's heritage, its historical buildings and culture.
The Reverend John Cotton, a principal New England Puritan figure and a founder of Boston, Massachusetts, was educated at the Grammar School (see the blue plaque).

The Centre shares its car park, and is in the Warehouse that lies between the canal and the road.
The Centre is leased from Mansfield Brewery who completely refurbished and equipped it at their own expense as a museum for the village.
The Centre has a small sales area where visitors can purchase reproductions of Edwardian photographs of the village, modern postcards and other local souvenirs, and of course the village trail (25p) - a leaflet describing the interesting features and buildings as you walk round the canal port.

 DERBY GHOST WALKS
Local historian Richard Felix is the proprietor of the Derby Heritage Centre and he has created a renowned ghost tour of the city.
Mr Felix said that although the tearooms were not intended to be the main source of profit for the centre, it had increasingly become so and a drop in its popularity had led to the decision to close.
John Twells, who jointly owns the building in which the heritage centre is based, said it would be made available to let once Mr Felix had moved out.
