  Derrick Green - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Derrick Lamont ("Leon") Green was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 20, 1971 and is currently the vocalist and frontman for the metal band Sepultura, whom he joined on the departure of their previous vocalist Max Cavalera in 1997.
Previously, Derrick was a singer for thrash metal/hardcore band Outface (with guitarist Charlie Gerriga of CIV, and Frank Cavanagh of Prong and Filter among others), Krop Acid and several other hardcore bands of which Alpha Jerk was his latest band.
He was a guest vocalist on a few CD's including Integrity 2000 from the hardcore band Integrity, Biohazard's Uncivilization and the soundtrack of the Brazilian movie Lisbela e o Prisioneiro.

I can appreciate the concept of melding the native music of the indigenous people of South America with heavy metal, but the actual execution didn't elicit much in repeat turns in the CD player for me. And then the whole Max affair...
What I hear on Roorback though is a audio kick in the ass - politically-charged thrash mixed with hardcore, maybe a little too much on the hardcore side of things because I don't hear Andreas let loose on the fretboard for a good 20 minutes into the album.
Derrick Green is an excellent vocalist, really sounding like he's putting 100% into everything he's doing here - maybe because he's credited as lyricist with Andreas Kisser on most tracks.
