They were both from Essex county, New Jersey, and from the part known at that day as the "Jersey Shore." As the settlement grow it came to be called "Jersey Shore," because Manning and Forster were Jerseymen.
When Susquehanna township was divided in 1854, his friends insisted that the new township should be name after him, and it was done.
Porter township was taken from Mifflin by decree made at May term, 1840, and in 1854 a part of Porter was annexed to the borough of Jersey Shore by act approved May 6, 1854, and the boundary lines were corrected by a re-survey on the 7th of July, 1862, by A. McHenry and E. Parker.

Israel settled in Derry Township by 1790 with his brother Gershom, and in 1793 they obtained a joint patent there to 100 acres.
Pitman states "Israel was born about 1766" and that he settled with his brother Gershom "in that part of Northumberland County, PA which became Derry Township, Columbia County, in 1790." David Cosper erroneously gives the date of his birth as about 1769 which is after the death of Jacob's father.
The estate was apparently not settled quickly, for in 1823 two sons in Michigan gave power of attorney to Clark Dildine of Columbia County to represent their interests.

SOUTHCENTRAL — On Feb. 2, York County 911 reported to the Southcentral Region’s Emergency Response program that several bags of grout material were found on the stream bank of a tributary to the Codorus Creek in York Township.
J and D Explosives Inc. inserted the vial into a tube of ammonium nitrate fuel oil and lowered the tube down a borehole where it was detonated.
The pair visited two water treatment plants in Westmoreland County – the George R. Sweeney Treatment Plant, which draws its water from the Beaver Run Reservoir, and the New Kensington Municipal Authority Plant, which draws from the Allegheny River.

Fishingcreek Township began at August session in 1789 out of part of Wyoming County.
