	Descanso Gardens
		Located in the midst of California chaparral, Descanso Gardens is the antithesis of frantic life lived in the city.
		By 1957, the Gardens were in danger of being closed, until 25 area residents stepped forward to save the historic property and formed a non-profit organization to protect and promote the interests of the Gardens.
		At the end of my walking tour of the gardens, I felt particularly fortunate to have a place of such magnificent beauty, where history is preserved and nature is cherished.

		Located in the San Rafael Hills, this is truly a secluded, lush, dense garden containing over 100,000 plants which includes one of the largest displays of camellias in the world!
		Some of the more popular attractions include: a lake that hosts migratory birds, a Japanese garden with pools and waterfalls and the International Rosarium featuring thousands of rose settings.
		There is also an extensive performing arts program throughout the year that includes stage and musical performances and flower and craft shows.
