Deseronto is on the north side of Mohawk Bay 17 miles east of Belleville.
Deseronto Centennial Park west of the Marina, on the NW shore, is three tenths of a mile west of the old wharf.
Unfortunately there is no longer a marina in Napanee due to the low water levels however there is a gas station on the south side of the bridge which crosses the river to the east of the town docks.

 Crime rates drop in Quinte
Deseronto has seen a dramatic rise since 1995 with rates climbing from 15 incidents per 1,000 population to 51.4 in 1999, according to adult statistics.
Henderson said Deseronto's rates were higher than any other area.
Henderson said statistics show the youth crime is not on the rise in most of the areas, with the exception of Deseronto and Centre Hastings.

DESERONTO - Residents of the Town of Deseronto will benefit from cleaner, safer drinking water through an investment under the Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Program.
The Honourable Mauril Bélanger, Deputy Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister responsible for Eastern Ontario; the Honourable John Gerretsen, Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing; and Clarence Zieman, Mayor of the Town of Deseronto, made the announcement today.
The upgrades are required to bring the municipal water system into compliance with the Ontario Drinking Water Systems Regulation and improve the overall quality of life for residents in Deseronto.

There are a number of out-falls and inlets, a sewer outfall is located a little less than 200 yards NE of the old wharf and a submerged inlet 15 feet below the surface of the water is just west of the remains.
Deseronto Marina is a full service marina with an older 30 ton traveling lift, two launching ramps, power, telephone, picnic facilities, and a marine store, gas but (NO diesel) fuel are also available.
Unfortunatly there is no longer a marina in Napanee due to the low water levels however there is a gas station on the south side of the bridge which crosses the river to the east of the town docks.

Deseronto Navigation Company was a enterprise which made Deseronto an up and coming town.
At half past five in the early dusk on October 23rd,1889 the Quinte left Deseronto for a short run up the length of The Bay Picton.
The QUINTE was the flagship of the deseronto navigation and had been bought from a Quebec firm and equipped expressly for local travel only three years before she burned.

History: The community of Deseronto, originally founded by the enterprising Rathbun family, was anxious to develop the interior hinterlands to the north for the purposes of capitalizing on raw materials such as minerals, timber and agricultural products and exporting back the finished manufactured goods from local mills and factories.
At the same time, the two mile gap between Deseronto and Napanee was completed in June 1903, thus eliminating the need for GTR running rights into Napanee and causing the abandonment of the original track constructed to the GTR in 1882.
The tracks from Deseronto through to Sydenham were upgraded to form part of the CNoR Toronto to Ottawa mainline of which service was inaugurated on in September 1918.

Military officials confirmed this week, that on the night of Feb. 8, a Gryphon helicopter was on a routine night training flight when its crew, as part of the training mission, was required to put in a landing at a random airfield other than CFB Trenton.
It could have been done at Mountain View, but on this night, the Deseronto airfield formerly an RCAF training site, a privarte airport, once a drag strip and currently home to First Nations Technical Institute flying school was selected for a practice landing.
Deseronto is, noted an 8 Wing official we spoke with this week, among a group of listed, smallish airfields across the country at which no prior permission is required for a practice landing by military aircraft.
