Nearly a decade in the making, this refreshingly honest film documents the challenges and desires of a group of young women in New Orleans by letting them film their own stories.
Sensitively and intelligently interweaving the girls' short videos throughout the film’s narrative, DESIRE pivots around the intimacy and risk that the two generations of filmmakers share together and with the audience.
Addressing everything from sex and contraception to the impact of educational and material opportunities on their futures as women, Desire presents a nuanced and authentic look at modern young womanhood.
Desire, according to Hegel, is the incessant human effort to overcome external differences, a project to become a self-sufficient and self- conscious subject.
Thus desire is both intentional in that it is always desire of or for a given object or Other, but it is also reflexive in the sense that desire is a modality in which the subject is both discovered and enhanced.
Desire is based on a veritable cartography of the body, a rewriting of instincts and biological processes into networks of signification and meaning.
The paradox of desire, however, is that once we have got what we desired, we no longer desire it and hence may no longer find it attractive in any way.
Desire also increase with teasing, where we are offered something, and it is taken away, offered back, taken away.
Desire is the opposite of fear, and as such is a far more useful emotion in persuasion.

Desire opens with the fast-paced, socially conscious opus, “Hurricane” and ends with the somber, personal account, “Sara.” In between are many valleys and peaks and some of the most varied material of Mr.
Both Planet Waves and Desire were recorded in the aftermath of war (the Yom Kippur War for Planet Waves; the Vietnam War for Desire), and share an optimism for a better world that brackets Blood on the Tracks' tragic vision.
Desire marks the completion of a grand cycle of Dylan's career, dating back to his first albums in the early 1960s.

Since the choice of whether to marry is out of her hands, she decides that the man himself must be of her choosing.
Desire isn't like a lot of her other books, in that the mystery/crime thriller isn't really evident from the beginning of the book and when it came at the end I found it surprising, but not unexpected.
The setting for this story is a remote British isle known as 'Desire' -- a land rich in flowers which thrives on the perfume trade that results from cultivating those blossoms.
The sky over Wenders' war-scarred Berlin is full of gentle, trenchcoated angels who listen to the tortured thoughts of mortals and try to comfort them.

I've definitely softened to Desire, and though I don't think it ranks at the top of Dylan's masterpieces, I think it's a really enjoyable listen with a ton of great things going for it.
Not to forget the other groups he's played with, Rolling Thunder is joyous and momentous, sparking motivations to sit and listen to them jam all on thier own.
Desire is great, especially at high volumes, and I recommend it to any Dylan fan.

Tennessee Williams (original play "A Streetcar Named Desire")
From the raucous jazz score to the sleazy production design bathed in smoldering grey, 'Streetcar' is a class-act from beginning to end; sexy, brutal, and endlessly fascinating.

A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) is a subversive, steamy film classic that was adapted from Tennessee Williams' 1947 Pulitzer Prize-winning play (his first) of the same name.
They told me to take a streetcar named Desire, and then transfer to one called Cemeteries and ride six blocks and get off at Elysian Fields.
The Desire Line streetcar (named Desire after Desire Street) [the symbolic assumption is that Blanche has already indulged in 'Desire' before her arrival] takes her to her sister Stella DuBois Kowalski's (Kim Hunter) apartment in New Orleans' French Quarter.
