The large crater in the shadows is Sacrobosco (98km) which has three prominent craters inside it (13-17km) Two of the craters are obvious, while the third shows only part of its crater lip.

This is a drawing of the crater Eudoxus (top) and the broken ramparts of Alexander (the group of brillantly lit semi-circular mountains).
The crater Maginus (top) still filled with a pool of lunar night and the odd squarish shaped crater Orontius (middle of the drawing) is overlapped by the crater Huggins which is in turn overlapped by the crater Nasireddin.

At approximately 07:42 UT I spotted a "reverse" triangular shadow being cast from an object on the western wall onto the illuminated crater floor.
Like several other craters in the area (notably Orontius and Walter) it has dark "rays" or spray markings on the western side, more or less oriented in the direction of Tycho.

It is located to the northwest of the prominent Tycho crater, and south and east of the large Deslandres walled-plain.

Walther is an ancient lunar impact crater located in the southern highland region of the Moon.
To the northeast is Aliacensis crater, and joined to the southeast rim is the irregular Nonius crater.
The rim of Walther crater is complex, heavily eroded and incised by lesser impacts.

The large faint crater low on the terminator (most evident in the enlargement) is Deslandres.
Unfortunately Galileo emphasizes both in the drawing and in his description that the floor of his large crater is bright on the side away from the Sun and dark on the side towards it.
While this is true of small bowl-shaped craters, the floor of Deslandres is so large and flat that the Moon's curvature always causes it to be bright on the side towards the Sun and dark on the side away from it, as can be readily seen in our photo.

The bright crater is Proclus [diameter 26 km]: a polygonal crater with sharp contours and a centre of bright rays.
Craters: (from to to bottom) Swift [11x11km], Peirce [18,5x18,5km], Yerkes [33x33km], which is almost completely filled with lava, Picard [23x23km] and Greaves [14x14km].

Pitatus is a battered crater on the southern shores of Mare Nubium.
It is connected by a narrow valley to the neighbouring crater Hesiodus, which has a small crater (Hesiodus D) at its centre in place of the more-usual mountain.
The crater Hell is within a much larger crater called Deslandres, most of which is outside this picture.

The large oval ¼ of the way down from the north lunar pole is the Mare Serenitatis, with the Caucasus and Haemus mountains extending onto the dark half of the disc.
The large crater bisected by the terminator has prompted many suggestions to its identity.
Tycho and Copernicus are popular candidates, though their size and position are a poor match, doing a great disservice to Galileo's draughtsmanship.

This crater is named after Tycho Brahe, a Danish astronomer and observer who lived from 1546 to 1601.
Plato has a few smaller craters spread across its floor, but on this image they cannot be seen, and I have not detected them visually tonight.
To the southeast of Plato lie the Montes Alpes and the Vallis Alpes (Rukl 4), and to the southwest, Mons Pico, the Montes Teneriffe and Montes Recti (Rukl 11) are visible.

Robert Manske description of the event was that he saw two craters glowing a strong red and blue giving it a rainbow effect.
Concerning the orientation of the red and blue was on the crater he stated that  he did not remember since he failed to take any notes.
Keith Curtis saw a very strong coloration around the rim of the craters, where Robert Manske saw the entire region covered by this red and blue coloration and he could not see the interior of the craters underneath.

Some of the interesting craters near the terminator (the line dividing light and shadow) are Pitatus (105km in diameter), Tycho (84km), and Clavius (225km).
Tycho is a relatively young and fresh crater- you can tell because it appears brighter than its surroundings.
Clavius, on the other hand, is an old, heavily eroded crater that has a string of smaller craters inside of it.

In 1956, at age 15, I was able to purchase a 2.4-inch refractor which came with 40x; 64x; 88x; and 132x oculars plus a prismatic star diagonal and an erecting prism, the latter for terrestrial use.
Antoniadi depicts several lunar-like craters that interestingly enough (given the positional accuracy involved) coincide with several craters discovered subsequently by the Mariner spacecraft.
That craters were known to exist on Mars is clearly shown in an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer, October 15th.

The sharp-edged rim is not significantly eroded, and has a narrow inner wall.
By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Hell crater.
