  Science Fair Projects - Destrii
Destrii, or to give her full title, the Primatrix Destriianatos, is a fictional character who appeared in the Doctor Who Magazine comic strip based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who.
Destrii had survived on her own inside the belly of Ophidius for quite a while, and was being pursued by the aliens that controlled the world-snake.
Destrii was about to destroy the cities of Oblivion with her newfound power but Izzy reminded her of her desire to be free and urged her not to become just one of the monolithic Horde.

Science Fair Projects - Izzy Sinclair
Destrii was being pursued by the group of aliens that controlled Ophidius, and gained Izzy's confidence only to switch bodies with her to evade capture.
When Destrii (in Izzy's body) was apparently disintegrated, Izzy had to deal with the possibility that she would be in an alien body for the rest of her life.
In the process, both Destrii and Izzy saw into each other's minds, and Destrii saw how finding out she had been adopted made Izzy withdraw, unable to trust herself or admit that she was a lesbian.

Destrii learns that this is the day of her wedding and rushes to the palace, unwilling to see her old body destroyed.

Destrii - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
While Izzy was adjusting to the trauma of being trapped in an alien body, she was kidnapped by representatives of Destrii's mother, the Matriax Scalamanthia of the planet Oblivion.
Izzy saw that Destrii was the daughter of the ruling Matriax, whom the Horde still deferred to.
Realizing that she had been used, Destrii poured her own energy and that of the Horde into the capsule, reverting to her amphibian form and giving her and her uncle the ability to roam time and space (Oblivion, DWM #323-#328).

Destrii hadn't resisted the extractor - but in doing so, she'd survived, returned to physical form, to flesh and blood.
As Destrii herself had said, they were at moral odds - they'd never accept, never fully _understand_, her view of the world, the things she was willing to do, that she did as a matter of course.

Destrii is funky and her scenes with the Doctor are everything we could have hoped for, and more.
There's also Destrii, a blue fish-like woman, with a love of action and Earth sci-fi (apparently, so she gets on with Izzy well at first).
As good as Destrii's homeworld is, it is the conclusion that really highlights the excellence of the whole strip.

Admittedly Izzy was better than Gary Russell's Stacy and the 8DAs' Sam Jones, but one still got the feeling that DWM was using their minimal monthly page count as an excuse for not creating a proper character.
The psychotic Destrii is probably the best thing about this story - and thankfully it looks like she is stopping with the Doctor.
That's fine by me. As the eighth Doctor strip comes to its conclusion, it is Izzy and Destrii which have become as much part of the strip as the eighth Doctor.
