Destruction abandoned his realm and his responsibilities some time around the turn of the seventeenth century.
Destruction is self-obsessed in the most positive sense of that term; after giving up his responsibilities he concentrates instead on attempting to learn about his own nature and exert control over it.

 Zero Hour -- Unofficial History of DC Comics
DC added a new book to its slate with Flash Comics, an anthology featuring the Flash, Hawkman, and others, and narrowly beating to the presses a book from Fawcett Publishing by the same title, which then was published under the title of Whiz Comics.
DC's slate of heroes grew by leaps and bounds with the additions of both the Spectre, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster after Jerry was mugged in New York and Dr. Fate in the pages of, ironically, More Fun Comics.
DC during this period invented the concept of Infinite Earths in order to explain the differences between the then already classic characters of the 40's and those of the then present.

January 26, 2006 - On May 10, DC Comics presents one of the most eagerly anticipated new debuts of the year -- 52: Week 1, the first issue of the incredible weekly DCU series written by Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka and Mark Waid with layouts by Keith Giffen and covers by J.G. Jones.
DC Comics will announce qualification terms for 52: Weeks 5-12 at a later date.
Qualifying retailers will be required to return stripped covers from returnable issues of 52 and an affidavit of destruction to Diamond Comic Distributors at a date to be named later.

Everyone may say DC is totally quality, but somehow Marvel always manages to beat DC in the sales every month by at least 4%.
DC led the Dollar Share category with 35.29% to Marvel’s 34.79% and the Unit Share category with 41.03% to Marvel’s 39.80%.

But, as a lifelong fan of crossover comics, where heroes interact daily, I was happily stunned when they, in effect, opened up the whole DC roster of heroes to the viewing audience.
The DC universe is filled with Superheroes...and not just Batman (and his future incarnation Batman Beyond), Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman or Teen Titans.
