		The electric vehicle was mainly sold to women drivers and physicians who desired the dependable and immediate start without the physically demanding hand cranking of the engine that was required with early internal combustion engine autos.
		Clara Ford, the wife of Henry Ford, drove Detroit Electrics from 1908 when Henry bought her a model C coupe with a special child seat, through the late teens.
		An electric car is depicted in the Donald Duck comic books as the car of the character Grandma Duck but the car depicted is more likely a Baker or a Rauch and Lang.

		The 31-year span of production makes this one of the longest-lived electric cars being produced, and it was one of the more popular makes of electric cars in the U.S. While more than 1,000 vehicles per year were produced some years prior to 1914, production fell off after that and dramatically into the 1920's.

		It runs on 96 volts consisting of 16 x 6v lead acid batteries (original equipment was nickle iron but I understand that after 60+ years of operation the nickle cases were getting pin holes and could not be rebuilt).
