Detroit Shock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Detroit Shock is a Women's National Basketball Association team based in Detroit, Michigan.
Laimbeer predicted that the Shock would be league champions in 2003, and his prediction became a reality when they defeated the Los Angeles Sparks two games to one in the 2003 WNBA Finals.
Detroit, much like the 1991 Minnesota Twins in baseball, became the first team in WNBA history to make it from last place to world champions the next year and the Shock also became the second Eastern conference team to win the championship in WNBA history (The Houston Comets were in the Eastern Conference in 1997).

I thought he was whiny in Cleveland, and whiny and lumpy in Detroit, a lumpy, whiny thug who was in the right place at the right time when Chuck Daly architected the right team of thugs, and won two NBA championships.
The Shock employs a three-guard rotation perforce: hard-working point guard Deanna Nolan (top 10 in scoring, steals, and assists), shooter Katie Smith (the leading single season point-getter in WNBA history), and Kedra Holland-Corn, who was instrumental in the 2003 championship series.
Detroit, with its five All-Stars but no true ballhandler, was 13th in turnovers, and 11th in assists, which led to 12th in FG%.
