 Afrikakorps
THE Deutsches Afrikakorps (DAK) was formed on 19th February 1941 and consisted (and only ever consisted) of 5th leichte Division and 15th Panzer Division.
However, Afrikakorps is often used to refer to all Rommel's German troops in North Africa.
The Afrikakorps became an elite force by surviving in the harsh African environment, overcoming numerically superior foe and by gaining the respect and even admiration of those it fought against.

 AFRIKAKORPS: 400+ Pages & 25,000+ Photographs/Illlustrations/Movies Reference Website
The "Deutsches AFRIKAKORPS" (not as in the improperly written Afrika Korps on search engines and via online encyclopedias) was the original and more famous name for the German "Blocking Force" sent to Libya in February of 1941 during the North African Campaign of World War II.
This modified form of the AFRIKAKORPS cuff title is based on a German soldier's requirement to have been stationed at least six months in this difficult theater of battle to be entitled to wear the device on his or her tunic jacket sleeve.
The AFRIKAKORPS had subsequently gone back over to a defensive posture to unify his forces and to reconstitute by reinforcements his corps.

Mussolini's attempt to re-establish an African empire for Italy had, by late 1940, resulted in nearly total defeat at the hands of the British and the strong danger that Italy would be driven out of North Africa.
Hitler was determined to maintain the Theatre of Operations, keeping the British committed to keeping men and resources in the desert and so was formed the famous military unit, the Deutsches Afrikakorps.
The rush to form an expeditionary force and the fact that a new tropical scheme was yet to be finalized resulted in the first vehicles to arrive in North Africa to still be overall dark grey.

Although the Afrika Corp (DAK) Deutsches Afrikakorps tropical uniform varied widely in colour, largely because of different manufacturers' batches, length of use etc, we decided to copy the regulation shades.
Our German wwii (ww2, world war two) Afrika Corp (DAK) Deutsches Afrikakorp uniforms, equipment, gear, webbing, shoes and boots, caps, badges, patches, insignia, chevrons etc have been replicated to exact specifications prevalent during the world war and are a favourite among re-enactors.

Heck, do a google search and see which phrase is more common "deutsche afrika korps/deutsche afrikakorps" or "das afrika korps/das afrikakorps" I'll bet the margin is close with "das" in the lead, and I know "das" will result in more German language hits.
