Easements and the West Branch Project
The development threats were real on Nicatous before the easement, and they continue to be real on many other scenic lakes and ponds that have far more development pressures than the West Branch area.
The West Branch Project is a waste of valuable conservation dollars to benefit only a few large landowners.
We've heard a great deal about this program recently, particularly about how it protects against development and is "one of the most effective anti-sprawl tools." Obviously our public officials don't feel too comfortable about its anti-development capabilities if we now have to go ahead and pay forest landowners additional money not to develop their land.

THE LAS VEGAS CONVERGENCE ZONE: ITS DEVELOPMENT, STRUCTURE AND IMPLICATIONS FOR FORECASTING
The exceptional development of this storm, being coincident with its intersection of the existing convergence zone, suggests the possibility that the convective updraft of the thunderstorm took control of the mountain-valley solenoid's up-branch, deepening it to tropopause level within minutes.
Cross-sections of the convergence zone at 23/2100 UTC reveal a complete vertical solenoidal circulation with boundary layer vorticity values on the order of 10-3 s-1 in the up-branch and substantial divergence near the barrier top (Fig.
This process can be viewed as linkage between convective updrafts and the up-branch of a mature mountain-valley solenoid (Fig 16).

 PHEASANT BRANCH
A Dane County study estimated that the baseflow of Pheasant Branch at Highway 12 was 2.90 cubic feet per second (cfs) prior to development.
It appears from Ligowsky's map that the Pheasant Branch channel was altered from its 1833-1834 position in order to draw down the watertable and harvest peat from the three beds, possibly as early as 1856 when Peatville was established.
Groundwater helps to maintain water levels in the North Fork and main channel of Pheasant Branch, and is the main source of water for the Pheasant Branch springs.

MSN Encarta - Print Preview - Computer Science
Computer science can be divided into four main fields: software development, computer architecture (hardware), human-computer interfacing (the design of the most efficient ways for humans to use computers), and artificial intelligence (the attempt to make computers behave intelligently).
Computer architects develop both software and hardware models to analyze the performance of existing and proposed computer designs, then use this analysis to guide development of new computers.
Computer scientists are interested in making operating systems easier to use, more secure, and more efficient by developing new user interface designs, designing new mechanisms that allow data to be shared while preventing access to sensitive data, and developing algorithms that make more effective use of the computer’s time and memory.

Baker Lab: The control of sexual development by dsx
During the past few years these studies, and similar studies in other labs have provided a wealth of information about, and some surprising revelations into how sexual development is brought about.
Having gained substantial knowledge of the hierarchy of regulatory genes that control sex we have focus much of our recent efforts on understanding how the dsx branch of the sex determination hierarchy controls growth, morphogenesis, and differentiation to generate the sexually dimorphisms that distinguish males and females.
To most profitably approach how the processes of growth, morphogenesis, and differentiation are regulated by dsx in sexually dimorphic tissues requires an appreciation of the kinds of processes controlled by this branch of the hierarchy.
