Lying in the South West of England between the Bristol and English Channels, Devon, with its deep river valleys and coastlines both north and south, is one of the largest counties in England.
The North devon coastline provides miles of sandy beaches and rocky terrain for the tourist to enjoy, and most places can be reached from Barnstaple, the largest town in North Devon, a one-time Saxon stronghold, and a town that changed hands four times during the Civil War.
The spacious centre of the village is filled with cob and thatch houses – from the 16th century through to the 19th – and is surrounded by lanes to walk in and Domesday farms to discover.

Some 4 years ago Didcot Railway Centre was registered as a museum: this generous grant for the exhibition and learning centre provides the opportunity to both develop its working museum and to expand and refresh the presentation of science and engineering.
