Harrison was the first of the Beatles to arrive on American soil when he visited his sister, Louise, in rural Illinois in September, 1963, some five months before the group appeared on the "Ed Sullivan Show." During this visit, George frequented a record store and inquired about his group's music.
Harrison quickly became fascinated with the instrument, immersed himself in Indian music and was pivotal in popularizing the sitar in particular and Indian music in general in the West.
Harrison married model Pattie Boyd on January 21, 1966 at Leatherhead and Esher registry office, and is reputed to have written the song "Something" for her in 1969, although he himself denied this, saying he was actually thinking about Ray Charles.

After the Beatles split in 1970, Harrison released a number of albums that were critically and commercially successful, both as solo projects and as the member of other groups.
Harrison denied deliberately stealing the song, but he did lose the case in 1976; in the ruling, the court accepted the possibility that Harrison had unconsciously taken the Chiffons song as the basis for his own song.
Harrison continued to issue records throughout the 1970s but successive releases met with dwindling interest and sales.

After the dissolution of the Rebels, Harrison was brought to the attention of his friend McCartney's unit The Quarrymen, a rocking little combo led by charismatic singer/guitarist John Lennon.
Harrison's undeniable skill with his instrument (demonstrated by a flawless performance of the Bill Justis instrumental piece Raunchy), combined with his bloody-minded persistence, inevitably won the over older musician and landed him the role of lead guitarist in 1958.
It was Harrison that introduced elements of Indian music into the Beatles' recordings (first realized on the track Norwegian Wood, from the album Rubber Soul, 1965), the guitarist's interest in the form leading him embark on a period of study with classical Indian performer Ravi Shankar in the mid 60s.

In fact, the "history" is a fabricated (but well developed) spoof of a much more recent project involving Dave Stewart (of Eurythmics fame).
Harrison fans will recall the original from George's 1975 album “Extra Texture (Read All About It)”.
Listeners of the “Platinum Weird” version will no doubt realize that the Harrison lead vocal is much more recent than the early '70s (probably mid '90s) and his vocal presence is much stronger than on the original version.
