After two days we took the night train heading north, to Dharamasala in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Dharamasala is in the Northwestern part of India.
Following the Chinese invasion of Tibet, it was to Dharamasala that the Dalai Lama, and his followers fled.

Dharamasala is a beautiful town high up on the foot-hills of the Himalayas.
The thing though that surprised me the most about Dharamasala is the huge population of westerners.
Dharamasala seems to attract many trekkers who are just "taking it easy" after their treks.

Three days of celebrations have begun to mark the 70th birthday of the Dalai Lama in the northern Indian town of Dharamasala.
Born into a peasant family in north-eastern Tibet on this day in 1935, at the age of four the Dalai Lama was selected to become his country's spiritual leader.
Direct ties with China were resumed in 2002, and the Dalai Lama's campaign to return to a democratic autonomous Tibet within China continues.

I live in yoga centre (NOT an ashram) and basically do a whole lot of yoga, and living here, i get to use the hall whenever I want.

GEOFF THOMPSON: But for 46 of his now 70 years, Tibet's spiritual leader has lived in exile in Dharamasala, meditating as Buddhists do, on the impermanence of everything, whether it be Chinese domination of his homeland or the inevitable passing of even special days like this one.

This is where we waited and kept asking ticket sellers which bus went to Dharamasala.
Finally after one hour of being ignored, somebody who knew what we wanted finally sold us a ticket and pointed to a bus that we hoped was going to Dharamasala.

Although there are no overnight miracle cures, the Buryat center claims a remarkably high cure rate for radiation-related ailments associated with the 1986 nuclear accident at Chernobyl.

We went from Kasol to McLeod Ganj just after my last diary entry.
Nice chillum-blazin' cab drivers gave us a list down to Bhuntar and then we got an overnight bus to Dharamasala.
The Bus dropped us out at 3.30am to an empty bus station.
