The earliest ancestor of Dharmic religions was the Vedic religion of the ancient Vedic civilization in ancient India.

Those religions are almost all contradictory, and all claim to be the "truth".
The question has nothing to do with atheism being the chosen one, the question is, how can you settle that particular debate.
