The advocates of Hubli and Dharwad on Tuesday boycotted the court proceedings in the twin cities and held a day-long protest against the reported decision of the chief justice of Karnataka High Court that establishment of a bench of the Karnataka High Court in nort h Karnataka is not ‘feasible’.
In Hubli, the advocates held a meeting under the chairmanship of Mr C R Patil, president of the Hubli Bar Association and expressed their disappointment about the opinion of the chief justice, Mr Justice N K Jain.
In Dharwad, the advocates boycotted the court proceedings and staged a rasta roko for some time.

The Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph has indicated that the Dharwad circuit bench of the court might start functioning from November this year in the old building of Water and landu Management Institute (WALMI).
Participating in a function organised to mark the silver jubilee of a court, the CJ said that he had visited the place and was seriously considering of having circuit bench functioning with effect from the Rajyotsava day, with the construction work of the bench needing around 18 months.
