 Four chicken guinea cases reported in Dharwad
With four more cases of chicken guinea being reported from Kalghatagi town of Dharwad district this morning the total number of cases in the district rose to 31.
Last week seven people were affected by the disease spread by mosquitoes from Garag village of the district and were treated at district hospital.
Official sources said except for the four fresh cases reported today, others who were undergoing treatment at the District Hospital were recovering.

Karnataka’s twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad and their surrounding areas as well as Belgaum district experienced mild tremors for a few seconds this afternoon shaking windows and furniture in houses in some areas in Hubli city.
The tremors, which measured 5.1 on the Richter scale, had its epicentre near the earthquake-prone Koyna Dam area in Satara district in southwestern Maharashtra, were felt in different parts of Mumbai and suburbs, Pune, Satara and Raigad districts, Goa, and Karnataka’s twin cities of Hubli, Dharwad and Belgaum district bordering Maharashtra.
The shocks were experienced at 3.14pm, according to the local Met office and forced occupants of the high-rise buildings to rush out to roads for safety.

Also during winters, mainly from November to February, various wetlands (lakes, dams etc) across Karnataka are host to a number of migratory waterfowls like Northern pintails, White storks, etc. Some of the water bodies famous for attracting migratory waterbirds are in Dharwad and Haveri districts.
There are a number of bird watchers in Karnataka particularly in and around Bangalore who can be of great help to other bird watchers.
This is possible because the weather is never extreme, particularly in the old Mysore region (South Karnataka), as compared to North India or even many parts of the Deccan Plateau.
