  Dhikr
Dhikr, or the remembrance, is the essential and foundational practice of a Sufi.
Dhikr and the resulting awe and awareness of Allah, blessed and exalted is He, underlies describes the process of surrendering one’s self (nafs) to God's will.
In the Shadhuli Way, dhikr is done by a group standing in a circle, fingers interlaced, chanting the name of God to evoke His light and allow Him to open and clean the participants' hearts, minds, and spirits.

Dhikr, ذکر (Zikr in Urdu and Zekr in Persian) (Arabic "pronouncement", "invocation" or "remembrance") is the remembrance of God commanded in the Qur'an for all Muslims.
Dhikr as a devotional act includes the repetition of divine names, supplications and aphorisms from hadith literature, and sections of the Qur'an.
A group dhikr ceremony in Arabic countries is usually called the hadrah ("presence", referring not to God's presence but to that of the spirit of the Prophet Muhammad and to the awareness of each participant).

 On Dhikr
Dhikr is a sultan -- when it descends in a place, it descends with its trumpets and cymbals because dhikr is opposed to all that is other than the Truth.
The sign of dhikr moving to the inner conscience is the absence of the invoker from dhikr and the One invoked, and the dhikr of the inner conscience is frantic thirst and drowning in it.
The dhikr of the presence in the heart is the dhikr of the heart; and the dhikr of absence from presence with the One Invoked is the dhikr of the inner conscience, and it is hidden dhikr.

 Audible and Inaudible Dhikr
It is clear that this type of dhikr is not taken into consideration and is actually a part of the neglect of dhikr.
This virtue is due to a divine wisdom as in the case of the adhān and the recitation of the Qur'ān during the audible salāhs, the audible dhikr is to awaken those who are asleep.
To claim that dhikr khafī is sunnah while regarding dhikr khafī to refer to the murāqabah (meditation) as espoused by the Sūfīs or to regard as Sharī’ah-compliant that dhikr jahrī which the Sūfīs have initiated in which the dhikr is excessively loud, is futile, let alone claiming it to be more virtuous.

Dhikr is a form of worship that in importance comes only after the ritual Prayer (salah) and reading Qur'an.
I would like to suggest a program of dhikr that would take very little time, be of great spiritual benefit to students, help ensure a close personal relationship with Allah, and probably even help students learn the academic subjects better.
Another important benefit from this student dhikr, which has so many valuable benefits, is that students remembering Allah in this way will come to view their teachers in a different, more positive manner.

The most perfect of dhikr is that in which the heart and tongue are both focused, then that which is in the heart only, then that which is on the tongue only.
Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The types of dhikr may be in the heart and on the tongue sometimes, which is the best of dhikr, or they may be in the heart only sometimes, which is the second level, and on the tongue sometimes, which is the third level.
Dhikr on the tongue only does not give any of these results and it is of little benefit.
