The Bharatiya Janata Party is riding on a sympathy wave in Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency in Assam where the election was countermanded after the abduction and murder of BJP candidate Dr Pannalal Oswal last month.
Dhubri is one of the five Lok Sabha constituencies where elections were postponed to October 28.
Dhubri, situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra, is one of the most neglected constituencies of the country.

The move came after ten people were killed in a militant attack in Jalabill village, which is under Bogribari police station in western Assam's Dhubri district, on Wednesday.
Dhubri is about 300km from state capital Guwahati, close to the West Bengal-Bangladesh border.

Dhubri, Sept. 17: Unplanned road construction led to artificial flooding in Dhubri town, the worst-affected areas being Amco Road and ward number 12 where residents have been facing the scourge for the last six months.
Residents of the affected areas said the faulty construction of 1.3 km stretch between Aironjongla and Newghat is responsible for the flooding.
But trouble struck as soon as the road was completed, when the residents started facing the problem of artificial flooding.

It was the fourth attack by NDFB rebels in the district since Sunday.

Dhubri: The banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) struck terror in lower Assam killing 13 people and injuring 23 others in separate incidents on Saturday, while one of its cadres was shot dead by security forces.
A group of five heavily armed NDFB guerillas stormed the Makrijhora weekly market on National Highway 31 in Dhubri district at around 5.30 pm and opened fire killing 11 people on the spot and seriously injured four others.
Dhubri police super Dr L R Bishnoi said the ultras stormed the busy weekly market, which is on the borders of a dense jungle, when it was thronged by people.

Suspected militants of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) today gunned down 10 more persons and injured five in lower Assam's Dhubri district this evening as violence continued for the fourth consecutive day.
The State Home Commissioner, B.K. Gohain, told The Hindu that a group of suspected NDFB militants opened indiscriminate fire at Jolabeel village near the Mahamaya reserve forest under Bogoribari police station in Dhubri district at 6:30 p.m.
The injured were taken to the Dhubri Civil Hospital.
