U.S. Patent: 5608005 - Process for viscosifying water with carboxylic acid monomers polymerized in silicone solvents - ...
The method of claim 18 wherein the carboxylic acid monomer is acrylic acid and said polyfunctional cross-linker monomer is allyl methacrylate and the mole ratio of said acrylic acid to said allyl methacrylate is 1:0.06 to 1:0.08.
Where the carboxylic acid monomer is acrylic acid and the crosslinker monomer is a bifunctional cross-linker such as allyl methacrylate, the effective mole ratio between the acrylic acid and the allyl methacrylate is 1:0.03 to 1:0.10.
A preferred carboxylic acid monomer is "acrylic acid." By the term "acrylic acid" as used herein, is meant acrylic acid and its homologs, such as methacrylic acid, ethacrylic acid, itaconic acids, maleic acids and their respective anhydrides.

Condensation polymer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Polyester is created through ester linkages between monomers, which involve the functional groups carboxyl and hydroxyl (an organic acid and an alcohol monomer).
The carboxylic acids and amines link to form peptide bonds, also known as amide groups.
Proteins are condensation polymers made from amino acid monomers.

e-Prints Soton - A novel pyrroline-5-carboxylic acid and acetoacetic acid adduct in hyperprolinaemia type II
Background: From investigations of a child with hyperprolinaemia type II, we demonstrated in vitro that pyridoxal phosphate forms a novel adduct with a proline metabolite, pyrroline-5-carboxylic acid, through Claisen condensation.
Methods: Mixtures of acetoacetic acid and pyrroline-5-carboxylic acid were co-incubated at pH 7.4 and 37 C, dried, or extracted and dried, derivatised and analysed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS).
Conclusions: Pyrroline-5-carboxylic acid forms an adduct with acetoacetic acid, which was present in urine of a sick child with hyperprolinaemia type II.

Serum uric acid levels should be monitored and hypouricaemic therapy instituted prior to the initiation of antileukaemic therapy.
Although patients with severe renal failure have not been studied, mitozantrone is extensively tissue bound and it is unlikely that the therapeutic effect or toxicity would be mitigated by peritoneal or haemodialysis.

PTA Technology From Dow: From Raw Materials to Market-leading PET Resin
During the 1990s, PET became the material of choice for blow-molded bottles, replacing glass, PVC and aluminum, with the advantages of lower cost, lighter weight and excellent clarity in addition to its high mechanical strength.
PET's increasing market share, particularly in packaging, is largely due to a steady progression of frequent and economical innovation; most importantly, the development of a technology for terephthalic acid purification, PTA technology.
Among various di-carboxylic acid components of the polyesters, purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) are the two commercially viable intermediates.

Diazinon can be broken down to thiopyrophosphate and diazoxon metabolites which are considered to be highly potent ChE inhibitors.
Yet in mammals including humans, under normal conditions malathion is readily detoxified to the mono- and di-carboxylic acid metabolites which are not ChE inhibitors.
The point being made here is that although both of these chemicals are capable of inducing the same adverse effects, their potencies are different and hence the exposures to them may not be additive or lumped.

Norbixin is obtained by alkaline hydrolysis of bixin to give a water soluble di-carboxylic acid.
It is thought that most extraction procedures cause changes in the structure with trans- bixin being the more thermodynamically stable and produced by heating the cis- isomer.
