For the Professional Development Series at Dia:Beacon, teachers from all areas and all levels of schooling are invited to attend talks and workshops on the artists in Dia’s collection and to share education resources and their experiences in working with students and contemporary art.
During the 2004-2005 school year students from Beacon’s Forrestal, Glenham, Sargent, and South Avenue Elementary Schools; Rombout Middle School; and Beacon High School have visited, explored, and learned about the art on view at Dia:Beacon with their classroom teachers, art teachers, and visiting artists.
Dia presents its permanent collection at Dia:Beacon, Riggio Galleries, in Beacon, New York; exhibitions and public programming at Dia:Chelsea, in New York City (currently closed for renovations); and long-term, site-specific projects in the western United States, in New York City, and on Long Island.

 Scenic Hudson Press Room Announcements
When completed in June 2004, Trakas’ Beacon Point Project, comprising 14 acres, will provide public access to the river and to Scenic Hudson’s Beacon Landing, a peninsula adjacent to the new Dia:Beacon museum, for the first time.
Dia exhibits its collection of major artworks from the 1960s to the present at Dia:Beacon, in Beacon, New York; presents exhibitions and public programming at Dia:Chelsea (formerly Dia Center for the Arts), in Manhattan, New York; and maintains long-term, site-specific projects in the western United States, in New York City, and on Long Island.
With significant community input, the environmental organization has cleaned up this former industrial site and is pursuing plans to bring the parcel back to productive use and to connect it with other Beacon destinations.

The Beacon museum’s expansive galleries have been specifically designed for the display of the artworks to which Dia is committed, many of which, because of their character or scale, could not be easily accommodated by more conventional museums.
Anticipating the creation of the Beacon museum, this collection has been significantly augmented with works by artists of the same generation as those Dia historically supported.
Dia is working with state and local government officials and Scenic Hudson, a nonprofit environmental organization, on a master plan to connect Dia’s facility with the ninety acres of adjacent riverfront land.
