		A second Dial Records label was formed by Nashville-based song publisher/plugger/producer Buddy Killen in 1964.
		This label was formed specifically so Killen could record perhaps his best-known discovery, soul singer Joe Tex.
		Joe Tex was the anchor star of this Dial label (he rolled up almost thirty soul hits, some of which hit the pop charts, especially "Skinny Legs and All" and "I Gotcha") until he all but retired from music in the 1970s and died of a heart attack at age 49.

	Charlie Parker :The Complete Savoy & Dial Master Takes
		Recorded in February 1947, after Parker’s breakdown and subsequent recovery at the Camarillo mental facility, it includes “Relaxin’ at Camarillo” and three McGhee compositions, “Cheers”, “Carvin’ the Bird”, and “Stupendous”.
		As a Musicians Union recording ban approached, Dial owner Ross Russell was accelerating his recording of Parker, so there is another Dial session done on December 17 of ’47, with Russell’s wife, Dorothy, supervising the session because Ross was apparently ill yet unwilling to cancel the session.
		In any case, once the recording ban was over, only Savoy returned to recording him, with two September ’48 sessions, on the 18th and 24th proving to be the label’s swan song with Parker.

		Russell began his career in music as a collector of pre-war 78 jazz recordings and is often considered one of the first canvassers of rare jazz records.
		One of the first artists that Russell brought to Dial was the very same Charlie Parker whose Comet recording helped to bring an identity to Russell and Tempo.
		While most of the releases on Dial are considered classics, Russell was also an innovator, as he kept everything that was recorded in the studio, whether or not it was any good, finished, or even worthy of the material the song was recorded on.
