It's time once again for diamond geezer to spend a few days exploring London by bus.
I once spent a day singing there, back when I was more a cherub than a geezer, so I was most disappointed to discover that this great house is now a sports club and 'perfect wedding venue'.
I thought I'd get out and view some more of the capital from the best vantage point of all, the top deck of a London bus.

Unfortunately the windows of Christopher Wren's magnificent Octagon Room were found to be pointing slightly off the north-south axis, and so the first Royal Astronomer John Flamsteed made all his observations from a shed at the bottom of the garden instead.
It was the telescope in this shed that established the first of four Greenwich meridians, each defined by a different telescope and each now marked by a silver plaque on the observatory wall.

He was pure old school, by all accounts a diamond geezer, fond of a drink and a bet, hugely entertaining – and, perhaps, a troubled man. Jack Thompson, legendary piano player, died in 1979.
All those K's tell you something about the Jack Thompson Sound: "Hello Dolly" and "Now Is the Hour" and "Moon River" – and his crowdstopper, "The Bells of St Mary's".

You probably think of the Tower of London as a vastly overpriced tourist honeytrap, and you'd be right, but think of the place instead as central London's finest medieval castle and somehow the £14.50 entrance fee feels slightly more justified.
Over the years the scale of the castle was enlarged, first with one high surrounding wall and then another, until eventually the structure contained a full 20 towers encircled by a deep protective moat.
From Tudor times the Tower became more of a prison and armoury, but within the walls were also to be found a mint, a royal zoo, a record office and a fiercely guarded treasure house.

On The Up Series One - The Memorable TV DVD Review
Dennis “Cockney Diamond Geezer” Waterman enters the world of the sitcom with this gently funny entry from the pen of the legendary Bob Larbey.
The series opens with Tony’s wife Ruth (Judy Buxton) walking out on him and much of the drive of this first series (6 episodes all on one disc) is their on and off relationship, they clearly still have feelings for each other but can’t seem to live together without having huge rows.
As with any Bob Larbey (the man behind The Good Life) there are plenty of funny moments and Waterman is a likeable lead, despite a tendency to over act somewhat.

The biggest difference when you try blogging every day is that you stop thinking "What shall I blog about next?" and start thinking "What shall I blog about today?" I suspect it's this pressure to perform that inspires a bit more creativity.
