Helping Hannah with the food is her other sister Holly (Dianne Weist) who, along with friend April (Carrie Fisher), has been making some appetizers that's become a hit at the dinner.
Farrow brings a lot of stability to her character until the third act when all of her generosity and supportive gestures backfires as she becomes a woman who is in need and trying to understand her role.
Weist brings a lot of complexity as a woman whose cheerfulness exterior is balanced by her internal struggle to get by as an actress only to turn to writing.

The sweet, always nursing, always attentive, petting Peg, played by Dianne Weist is one of the most memorable characters from the early movies of Johnny Depp.
Dianne Weist, with her experience, has a lot more Leading Lady quality, in fact, than Johnny´s love interest at the time Winona Ryder.
Edward and Peg (and the daughter Kim, mentally clearly a copy of her mom not the practical, emotionally blindfolded father) are surprisingly similar, neither really have a place in that shallow, supersticious, unjustful place.
