Dibble combined with Norm Charlton and Randy Myers to form the "Nasty Boys" bullpen which helped Cincinnati win the 1990 World Series in which he tossed 4-2/3 scoreless innings in three appearances against the Oakland A's.
Dibble had his finest major league season in 1991 when he saved 31 games for the Reds.

Robert Keith Dibble (born January 24, 1964 in Bridgeport, Connecticut) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher.
A promising young pitcher with a blazing fastball that often exceeded 99 MPH, he was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the first round of the 1983 amateur draft, and made his debut with the Reds on June 29, 1988.
Dibble became the 14th National League pitcher and the 22nd pitcher in Major League history to accomplish the nine-strike/three-strikeout half-inning.

The name Dibble was likely to be written down and spelled as to what the writer thought he heard with the various accents of the times like Dible, Dibel, Dibell, Deeble, Dybol, Dibbs, Dibbles, etc. The Dibble name may even be spelled like Thibodeau or Thibault (French) in other countries.
Unless a Dibble individual was a prominent person or a criminal the only mark he was likely to leave for posterity was the supposedly compulsory record of his baptism, marriage or burial written in a church register by the incumbent of the local parish church or his clerk.
It is nearly impossible to be convinced that a Dibble baptism followed by a Dibble marriage about 25 years later refers to the same Dibble individual.
