DIBRUGARH, Sept 18 — Dibrugarh, which saw mushroom growth of nursing homes in spite of the presence of the premier Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), will soon have a civil hospital.
“The Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh seems to serve only the college purpose and so there is a need for a full fledged civil hospital”, the minister stated, adding that construction of a civil hospital in the city is a long pending demand of the locals.
Sarbananda Sonowal, MP, Dibrugarh also stressed on cleanliness, stating that the campaign should be carried out in the villages and tea gardens.

The Army on Friday regretted torture of a youth in its custody in the wake of prompt and loud public protest against its action in Dibrugarh district of Assam.
The alleged torture in custody of the youth, Nipul Saikia who was picked by the Army from Kalowloa village under Khowang police station in Dibrugarh district on Monday, led to public outcry in the area.
The Army official told newsmen at Dibrugarh on Friday afternoon that an Army court of inquiry would be constituted to probe into the incident.
