  Dick Dale and the Deltones
Dale was playing a right handed guitar left handed and changing the chords in his head then transposing the chords to his hands to create a sound never heard before.
Dick Dale called "King of the Surf Guitar," to a large degree invented and defined the form in the early '60s with his pioneering use of Fender reverb, dazzling staccato playing, and thundering instrumentals that incorporated Middle Eastern and Latin melodic influences.
Dale's impact was largely limited to Southern California, but his influence was vast, helping ignite surf music and contributing several of the genre's most enduring classics, especially "Let's Go Trippin'" and "Miserlou" (both of which were covered by the Beach Boys on their early albums).

Dick Dale wasn’t nicknamed “King of the Surf Guitar”; for nothing: he pretty much invented the style single-handedly, and no matter who copied or expanded upon his blueprint, he remained the fieriest, most technically gifted musician the genre ever produced.
Dale’s pioneering use of Middle Eastern and Eastern European melodies (learned organically through his familial heritage) was among the first in any genre of American popular music, and predated the teaching of such “exotic” scales in guitar-shredder academies by two decades.
Dale was featured in Life magazine in 1963, which led to appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show and the Frankie/Annette film Beach Party; he also released the follow-up LP King of the Surf Guitar, and went on to issue three more albums on Capitol through 1965.

Dick Dale's music at it's best is more like witnessing a force of nature than just "listening to some tunes".
Dale takes us though his current stuff and such great work as "Ghost Riders" and "Hava Nagila" in such a fast and hard way as to turn a Sunday driver into a wheelman worthy of anything on Grand Theft Auto 3 (having done this at 120 mph in four states I can attest to it).
While others are trying to hype themselves into immaculate conception, Dick Dale looks down to them, saying,"You call that thrashing?!" When I first played the CD and heard the tribal chants, I knew I was in for a ride.
