The World According to Dick Lamm
Among Lamm's key issues are establishing population control, stopping immigration, raising taxes to reduce the deficit, increasing tariffs for greater trade protection and ending "excessive" medical care for the elderly.
Lamm, like doomsayers since the time of Thomas Malthus, was wrong because he relied on a static analysis that views human beings as problems rather than as problem solvers.
Lamm has long been a major booster of euthanasia and in a 1984 speech he spoke of the elderly's "duty to die." In Megatraumas, the secretary of health and human services proposes health care rationing, arguing that money should not be spent on transplants, artificial organs and other life-extending procedures for those over 65.

AllPolitics - Dick Lamm : Life & Career
Dick Lamm was the personification of Colorado's shifting political environment; he was a young professional with a strong ideological bent.
Lamm and other young Democrats, most of whom were not Colorado natives, were united in their opposition to the Vietnam War in the late 1960s.
Lamm declined, saying that the Senate was "nothing but a big head trip" that had "the illusion of power." By 1992 he apparently changed his mind and made a run for the U.S. Senate but suffered his first political defeat.

 Silence of the Lamm
Lamm contends that the Reform Party, founded and largely funded by Perot, has hampered his campaign by refusing to let him have members' addresses so that he could reach them by mail.
Lamm stepped into the Reform Party process for two reasons: He wanted a national platform on which to discuss the problems American is facing and he apparently believed Perot when for months the Reform Party founder denied having any desire to be nominated and run for president of the United States.
The problem is that Dick Lamm has spoken out on these and a number of other issues over the years, but the media have focused so much on Lamm's political struggles, they have failed to give due attention to his solutions to our problems.

Lamm and Morris do serve as boardmembers for organizations that advocate in favor of immigration reductions and have authored numerous papers calling for less immigration; as such, both are aware that their beliefs can attract and be supported by completely distinct and racist groups.
Lamm, Morris, and Pimentel were so disturbed by the smear tactics they filed a civil suit in an attempt to block the printing of the election notice.

Lamm urges limits to U.S. immigration
As the director of public policy and contemporary issues in Denver, Lamm warned that, unless curtailed, the influx of economic refugees from Mexico will triple the population of Colorado in 50 years to 12 million and could double the population of the United States.
Lamm implied that unless Mexican illegal immigration is vastly reduced, Spanish-speaking strongholds in the U.S. could one day divide the country because, he claimed, immigrants do not assimilate well enough or have a common language with the English-speaking communities they live in.
Lamm argued that offering amnesty makes the problem worse by encouraging more illegal immigration, further stressing U.S. resources for education and social-welfare programs.

Lamm and Norwood, citing the center's studies, underscore that the reason so many immigrant families are uninsured is that the vast majority ``have very little education.'' This flies in the face of the myth spread by cheap-labor businesses and their media allies that most immigrants are educated and highly skilled.
Lamm and Norwood estimate the total cost of treating the uninsured is $30 billion annually - not including the $150 billion spent on Medicaid.
