Dickson Township is a civil township of Manistee County in the U.S. state of Michigan.
In the township the population was spread out with 24.2% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 30.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.8% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a household in the township was $33,309, and the median income for a family was $34,545.

As of the 2000 census, the township population was 2,243.
The township was organized on March 6, 1838 from survey townships 7 and 8 north in range 8 of the Michigan Survey.
In the township the population was spread out with 30.5% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 31.4% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who were 65 years of age or older.

The wave of civilization gradually advanced from Mifflin Township, in the eastern part of the county, in 1809, to Sharon and Vernon, in 1818 and 1820.
Dickson was a single man, but returned to Pennsylvania, married, returned here with his wife in 1823 and is yet a resident.
When the Mansfield, Coldwater and Lake Michigan Railroad passed across the northeastern part of the township, in 1871, a station-house was erected a short distance from De Kalb, called "De Kalb Station." The little business of the place is now generally transacted at this station.

This township was organized in the spring of 1834, but as the county records, showing the acts of the Commissioners in organizing this township, were destroyed by fire, in 1853, and as the records of the township are preserved only since 1839, we are unable, from any records, to describe the original boundary lines.
The township is all embraced in the "Congress Lands," as the territory all lies north of the Scioto River.
It is bounded as follows: On the north, by Jackson Township and Wyandot County; on the east, by Wyandot and Marion Counties; on the south, by Dudley Township, and on the west by Pleasant Township.

Late that summer, a Dickson High School reunion was held for all former graduates of the Dickson Rural Agricultural Consolidated High School, and its successor, Brethren High School.

    The History of Hillsdale County, Michigan in 1879 indicates that the oldest village is in the south part of the township, and the postal record establishes the name as South Wright, as of November 2, 1855, then the name was changed to Waldron on May 21, 1877.
