  Didymium UV and Visible Wavelength
Didymium glass has been used for many years as a high wavelength visible reference material.
When prepared in perchloric acid, didymium gives a spectral scan containing a series of sharp characteristic peaks that extend well above the useable range of the holmium into the near NIR (680-900 nm).
All Starna® didymium Certified Reference Materials are manufactured using procedures similar to those used in the preparation of our Holmium Oxide Reference Material (RM-HL).

 Didymium II
Didymium II Didymium II For some time now, there has been a product called ‘Didymium II’ floating around the industry.
TRUE Didymium is a combination of neodymium and praseodymium, which are rare earths that create the classic didymium transmission spectra.
Another example: if you are doing traditional glassblowing and working at a glory hole and/or furnace, you are being exposed to tremendous amounts of IR and you need to take steps to limit your exposure.

Didymium is a mixture of the elements praseodymium and neodymium.
It is used in safety glasses for glass blowing, where it provides a narrow filter which blocks mainly the light emitted by the hot sodium in the glass, without having much effect on general vision, unlike dark welder's glasses.
Didymium was wrongly believed to be one of two elementss discovered by Carl Mosander in 1839.

Molecular Expressions Microscopy Primer: Photomicrography - Interactive Java Tutorials - Didymium Filters for Color ...
Didymium filters remove a portion of the orange region of the visible light spectrum, an effect that increases the color saturation intensity of brown, blue, and red-stained features in the specimen.
The extinction coefficient is highest between 580 and 590 nanometers for the didymium filter, allowing the filter to remove most of the orange and yellow colors that tend to dull red and blue tones in stained thin sections.
Didymium filters are produced in very thin glass sections with a thickness of between one and two millimeters, because the amount of light absorbed by the filter is dependent upon filter thickness.

 Didymium - LoveToKnow 1911

Chemie, 1885, 6, 477) into two components (known respectively as neodymium and praseodymium) by repeated fractional crystallization of the double nitrate of ammonium and didymium in nitric acid.
Neodymium (Nd) forms the chief portion of the old "didymium." Its salts are reddish violet in colour, and give a characteristic absorption spectrum.

Didymium is a blend of two rare earth elements, praseodymium and neodymium, which have unusual spectrophotometric properties.
If you have been disappointed with the results from didymium, then the Singh-Ray should be looked at closely, as the objectionable effects are significantly diminished while the desired effect is improved.

 physics - Didymium
Mosander wrongly believed didymium to be an element, however in 1885 Carl Auer von Welsbach discovered that didymium was really a mixture of the elements praseodymium and neodymium.
Mosander had concluded that "ceria" (sometimes called cerite) isolated by Jöns Jakob Berzelius in 1803 was really a mixture of cerium, lanthanum and didymium.
During the period when it was believed to be an element, the symbol Di was used for it.

Neodymium - History, Properties and Applications
He believed that the oxide contained a new element which he names didymium, as it was the inseparable twin brother of lanthanum.
Although, von Welsbach successfully separated didymium into two elemental components, neodymia and praseodymia in 1885, it was not until 1925, when neodymium was separated into a raltively pure form.
Similarly didymium is used for making the glass that goes into welders goggles and neodymium is used as a colourant for enamels.
