 | | Santa María Rancho, or Valle de Pamo, was a grant of 17,708 acres, and the present town of Ramona, thirty-eight miles from San Diego, is situated in its central portion. |
 | | After long effort Juan María Osuna, the first alcalde of San Diego, in 1845, was able to obtain absolute title to the San Dieguito Rancho, the 8,824 acres which became known as Rancho Santa Fe, about twenty-five miles north of San Diego and inland from the sea about three miles. |
 | | At least eight of them put into San Diego Bay, in the period from 1842 to 1845, for repairs and supplies, and, in some cases to sell merchandise to pay for outfitting before returning home. |
