The islands are covered with birds, too: albatrosses (wanderers, gray heads and fl-brows), penguins (rock-hoppers and macaroni), blue-eyed shags, fl caracols and others I can't identify.
Also, Diego Ramirez contains the first vegetation we've seen in about two weeks: a soft, tall tussock grass that looks like it would be perfect to lounge in.
We may never know, however, because that side of the island was blown out, and the parts that were protected from the wind had no sign of swell.

Both Diego Ramirez and Ildefonso are covered with albatrosses and penguins, whereas Almagro holds six albatross colonies — all on vertical cliffs or offshore stacks — on its rugged west coast.
