The presidents of the District Courts, or the magistrates appointed in their stead, hear interlocutory applications and as such are called upon to make interim orders in urgent cases, both civil and commercial.
As a rule, representation by a barrister or solicitor is compulsory before the District Court, though the law does permit certain exceptions, for example in commercial cases and summary applications for an interim order, when the parties may argue their own cases.

During the Nazi occupation, the city of Diekirch became an administrative center of the NSDAP (Nazi party), responsible for the smaller communities in Northern Luxembourg.
James Rudder was assigned to the greater Diekirch area with two battalions on the defensive "front" line overlooking the Our river, and one battalion in reserve position in Diekirch itself.
The civilians left Diekirch around midnight via the still intact railway bridge and went south, whereas the remaining troops of the 109th Regiment established new positions on the highground overlooking Ettelbrück.

When I took a driving tour of central Luxembourg, I stayed overnight in Diekirch, one of the larger towns in the country.
Diekirch, like much of Luxembourg, was clean and friendly, and the inhabitants seemed to like living life at a nice, slow pace.
Tucked very deeply in the middle of one block is Diekirch's main historical structure, the Church of St. Lawrence (St. Laurent Church) which is so well protected by other buildings that getting a decent exterior picture of it was next to impossible.
