DJ Dieselboy, dubbed "America's finest" by The Risky, owner/editor of the British Drum 'n' Bass Arena Web site, has earned respect for fighting on the front lines of this American subcultural revolution since the early '90s, playing every major city and many in-between, and for his surgically precise and devastatingly dramatic mixing skills.
Dieselboy's mixing skills still dazzle - he is a DJs' DJ - but his aural vision has expanded to encompass musical sensibilities exciting not only to the dance music-educated, but also to newcomers.

Still, there is the matter of the album's narration, scripted by Dieselboy (with a few gamer-centric references) and delivered with resonant authority by Peter Cullen, who voiced the evil Venger on the "Dungeons and Dragons" cartoon show, as well as iconic Optimus Prime on the legendary "Transformers" animated series.
For the previous album, Dieselboy, who is considered the top American drum 'n' bass DJ, got American compatriots to remix classic drum 'n' bass tracks from England (where the hyperdriven genre originated) and, conversely, European drum 'n' bass producers to remix American tracks.
There was a time when the first three were earnest competitors, but Dieselboy managed to transform them into allies with a common mission to champion the drum 'n' bass scene and elevate its American DJs at a time when all the power was centered in England.

Dieselboy's own tracks (also included in full length on a bonus disc ep) are typically energising scare-fests, but as with most of the tracks on the compilation it seems a shame that his range appears so limited.

Dieselboy is a great Drum n' Bass artist and I feel that all of his albums deserve 5 stars.
Yes, this is tech-step/future-step/whatever you call it, and it is hard, and there's nothing groundbreaking about that per se, but I can tell you that I've never heard a drum-n-bass CD that is as well mixed and programmed as this, and that, in of itself, is groundbreaking.

Dieselboy Releases Drum 'n' Bass Remix Album The Dungeonmaster's Guide
Dieselboy teamed up with his fellow Philadelphians Kaos and Karl K for the remix of Dom and Kemal's “Moulin Rouge.” Originally a stripped-down, atonal number with haunting strings and drones complemented by quirky blips, the challenge for its remix was not having one main driving riff to play off of.
Dieselboy and company retained most of the sounds from the original “Moulin Rouge.” But Kaos chopped up and added parts of 20 different Amen breaks (originating from the drum solo in The Winstons' 1960s track “Amen Brother,” which is often sampled and manipulated by drum 'n' bass producers).
Dieselboy's painstaking efforts in collecting and choosing the freshest music available and his precise mixing abilities are a large part of his appeal.
