  Different Seasons by Stephen King
Different Seasons is a collection of four novellas, broken down into seasons of the year, that remain some of King’s most spectacular and noteworthy works to date, having had three of the novellas turned into films.
The third novella in Different Seasons, The Body, was the inspiration for the film Stand By Me starring the late River Phoenix.
Different Seasons deserves a place among Delores Claiborne and Salems Lot as one of King’s most powerful works within his career.

 The Seasons
Seasons occur because the Earth is tilted at an angle on its axis.
As the Earth moves around the sun during the year, different parts of the Earth are tilted towards the sun at different times.
Between these two seasons are spring and autumn, where the region becomes gradually warmer and colder as it tilts towards or away from the sun respectively.

 The Seasons
The primary cause of the seasons is the 23.5 degree of the Earth's rotation axis with respect to the plane of the ecliptic, as illustrated in the adjacent image (Source).
Thus, by choosing different points on the surface of the Earth at different times of the year, this program can be used to show the motion of the Sun through the sky and illustrate clearly the preceding points about the causes for the seasons.
This is an extreme example of the difference in insolation in Winter and Summer for the N. Hemisphere that is responsible for the seasons.

 EARTH'S Seasons - Zoom Astronomy
The Earth's seasons are not caused by the differences in the distance from the Sun throughout the year (these differences are extremely small).
The seasons are the result of the tilt of the Earth's axis.
Since the axis is tilted, different parts of the globe are oriented towards the Sun at different times of the year.

The book holds a journey for everyone, just as people enjoy different seasons of the year, just as people like to laugh, cry or be serious: but the end result will be the same, you will not be disappointed.

As a collection 'Different Seasons' is flawed and out of balance, but that shouldn't deter anyone with a taste for interesting popular fiction.
Different Seasons offers a dazzling display of how writing can appeal to people who do not ordinarily like to read.

When most of the people in the church were poor and had no access to education, the church festivals and the cycle of the church year provided a vehicle for teaching the story of God and his actions in human history.
One simple avenue that can assist in tracking the seasons of the church year for worshippers, as well as providing a visual context for worship, is the use of Colors of the Church Year in the sanctuary.
Different colors are associated with different seasons, and the changing colors of communion table and pulpit coverings (called paraments), or wall banners, provide visual clues for the seasons.

 The Reasons for the Seasons
If you try drawing the locations of sunrise and sunset near your house over the course of a year, you will see that the Sun rises and sets and takes different paths across the sky in different seasons.
Some people have the misconception that different seasons happen because sometimes the Earth is farther from the Sun and sometimes it is closer.
This difference in atmospheric depth is why the midday Sun, high in the sky, appears much brighter than at sunset.

Unless you live near the Earth's equator, you have no doubt noticed that the weather changes during the year: it is hotter during the Summer, colder in Winter, and somewhere in between during Spring and Fall.
This idea seems at first to have some merit, until we remember that the seasons get reversed when we cross the equator: when it is Summer in the northern hemisphere, it is Winter in the southern one, and vice versa.
The seasons are then the result of this tilt of the Earth's axis.
