Topic: Diffusion business

In the News (Tue 22 Dec 09)

Diffusion (business) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Diffusion is the process by which a new idea or new product is accepted by the market.
The rate of diffusion is the speed that the new idea spreads from one consumer to the next.
Adoption is similar to diffusion except that it deals with the psychological processes an individual goes through, rather than an aggregate market process.

Diffusion of innovations - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Diffusion of innovations theory was formalized by Everett Rogers in a 1962 book called Diffusion of Innovations.
Rogers showed these innovations would spread through society in an S curve, as the early adopters select the technology first, followed by the majority, until a technology or innovation is common.
A second is that disruptive technologies may radically change the diffusion patterns for established technology by starting a different competing S-curve.

Rogers differentiates the adoption process from the diffusion process in that the diffusion process occurs within society, as a group process; whereas, the adoption process is pertains to an individual.
Diffusion research is emerging as a single, integrated body of concepts and generalizations, even though the investigations are conducted by researchers in several scientific disciplines.
The diffusion of innovation process can be tracked on a micro level as is the case of an individual who is a targeted member of an audience, or traced at the macro level when considering economic development or technological advances.

However, full use of ICT in business lags particularly in broad sections of manufacturing, and there is evidence that implementation of modern ICT is slower than in neighbouring Nordic countries, that there is a lower degree of innovativeness in industry and that specific skills to develop e-business are not sufficient.
Given the complexity of the ICT diffusion process and the central role of a number of the other factors, attention is also given to the other parts of the framework (R&D, public procurement, payment systems, standards, broadband, trust and security) that are important elements in the diffusion of ICT to business.

As a family business expert dealing with growth and profitability issues, I receive many requests for interviews from writers and editors preparing family business articles for newspapers and magazines.
One of the reasons responsibility diffusion is so pervasive is that when something comes off the track, the assignment of responsibility is often used to embarrass, shame and humiliate individuals.
Family business owners, managers and employees in successful businesses tend to shoulder and incorporate responsibility as part of the process of continuous improvement.

Business school researchers possess a rich literature that can be applied to studying the use of GIS in organizations (Moore 1993).
In this context, businesses seeking to successfully integrate GIS into their organization must be given guidance concerning how to properly train users as well as how to configure the layout and display of their systems for optimal use (Turk 1993).

The fourth edition is (1) a revision of the theoretical framework and the research evidence supporting this model of diffusion, and (2) a new intellectual venture, in that new concepts and new theoretical viewpoints are introduced.
This criticism is due in large part to the stereotyped and limited ways in which many diffusion scholars have defined the scope and method of their field of study.
Rogers analyzes the limitations of previous diffusion studies, showing, for example, that the convergence model, by which participants create and share information to reach a mutual understanding, more accurately describes diffusion in most cases than the linear model.
