Digest size - Biocrawler   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
Digest size is a standard magazine size, smaller than a conventional bedsheet size magazine but larger than a standard paperback book, approximately 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches.
The manga graphic novel format is similar to digest size, although slightly narrower and generally thicker.
The A5 paper size used by many UK fanzines is slightly wider and taller than digest size.

This RFC documents the digest message format so that others may follow this format in creating (digestifying) and separating (undigestifying) digest messages to maintain compatibility with the programs expecting this de facto standard.
Any editorial functions performed at the discretion of a digest moderator, such as discarding submissions, editing content to correct spelling and punctuation errors, inserting comments, and reformatting paragraphs to conform to width conventions are beyond the scope of this memo.
Description A digest message is a conventional message consisting of a header and body conforming to RFC 822 as clarified in RFC 1123.

Digest delivery is a way to bundle many articles together into one package, which can be delivered once per day (if there were any posted articles), or whenever the package is bigger than a specified limit.
However, for high volume lists, you may want to send out digests when the size has reached a certain threshold, otherwise, the one digest they receive could be huge.
This variable actually controls whether or not a digest is sent daily when the size threshold has not yet been met.

The digest script is a perl script which automates the management of digests of electronic mail.
There are three conditions, which are connected to three limits: the digest size in characters, the digest length in lines, and the age of the oldest message in days.
Since it is for testing and debugging purposes, it does not mail the digest, it does not place the digest in the archive directory, and it does not update the digest number.

Digest size - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Digest size is a standard magazine size, smaller than a conventional bedsheet size magazine but larger than a standard paperback book, approximately 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches, but can also be 5 3/8 x 8 3/8 inches.
This size is less popular now than it once was; in 2005, TV Guide dropped it in favor of a larger format, and the Analog and Asimov's science fiction magazines switched to a format slightly larger than digest size several years earlier.
Children's Digest was originally in digest size, but switched long ago to a larger format as well, though keeping the word "Digest" in its name.

 Tree Hash EXchange format (THEX)
If the the segment size is equal to or larger than the file to be hashed, the tree hash value is the value of the single segment's value, which is the same as the underlying hash algorithm value for the whole file.
A segment size equal to the digest algorithm output size would more than double the total amount of data to be hashed, and thus more than double the time required to calculate the tree hash structure, as compared to a simple full-file hash.
The file size attribute refers to the size, in bytes, of the file that the hash tree was generated from.

Step 2: Using the proportion wheel
For example, let’s say the original art is 10" x 15" (a standard size to draw comics originals) and the final print size is to be 4.75" x 7.75" (which is the size of the print area in a digest-size minomic).
The “print size” of a standard digest size mini, therefore, is not the full size of the booklet (8.5: x 5.5"), but is at least 3/8 of an inch maller on all sides.
In other words, your print size for a digest mini would be, at the maximum, 7.75" x 4.75" You can go smaller, but you can’t go bigger, because your art won’t fit on the page.

This digest presents an overview of literature on the effectiveness of small schools as well as current topics in research on school size, including discussion of associated policy issues, individual successes and failures, and essential elements and other implementation considerations.
This digest addresses the growing perception, supported by national reports, that "small schools are good schools." Research suggests a more complicated picture: that "issues of size are not likely to be captured in universal guidelines." A brief history of the school size debate is presented, as well as a discussion of contemporary issues.
This digest assesses "the relationships of community, student learning, and the logic of consolidation." As the introduction states, "Such a discussion is uncommon.

Using Cache Digests it is possible to determine with a relatively high degree of accuracy whether a given URL is cached by a particular server.
The size of the Digest itself depends on both the number of bits consumed per entry, and the number of public keys which may be stored in the Digest - referred to as its capacity.
The Cache Digest hash function In order to register a given public key in a Cache Digest, a number of indices into the array (in Squid - four by default, though this may change) are calculated using a hash function.

Stereophile: A New Size For Stereophile
It is the same size as the Chinese Stereophile and a common size in the Far East.
Stereophile's last size change was in 1968 with Vol.2 No.8—it went from 81/2" by 11" (a size now only rarely printed) to digest size, where it remained through December 1993.
Gordon Holt's motivations for that size change appear to have been practical: The larger issues were getting mangled in the mail, and the digest-size issues didn't seem to suffer from this problem.

wodCrypt ActiveX Control - Digest Method
To provide some background theory, a hash/digest function is a transformation that takes a variable size input, and returns a fixed size byte array/string.
A hash function is said to be one-way, because it is hard to invert it - meaning it's almost impossible to determine the original data from it's hashed equivalent.
They both calculate their digest and, if they match, then both parties have same data.

Small size seems to benefit minority and low-income students more than middle- and upper-class students, say Valerie E. Lee and Julia B. Smith 1996.
Small school size encourages teachers to innovate and students to participate, resulting in greater commitment for both groups.
Howley (1996) suggests that "the most suitable size is likely to vary from place to place," with a community's relative poverty or affluence being a major factor.

The “digest” magazine simply referred to the size of the publication, which roughly meant that it was not “full” size.

Digests have been a small but noticeable part of the American comics scene since 1968, when Gold Key Comics started publishing its Walt Disney Comics Digest.
The reason it's come to refer to a less-than-savory source of news is simply that the cheapest papers, usually the ones published in the less-expensive smaller size, were usually the ones with the most sensational and least trustworthy news.

Tech Digest: Folder Size Display For Windows Explorer
One of the Windows Explorer’s many small and niggling annoyances is the way it displays the size of a file, but not the size of a folder, which is handy to know if you are looking for the programs and files that are gobbling up your hard disc space.
This makes the standard File Size column redundant so if you want to get rid of it right-click on the title bar again and uncheck ‘Size’.
If you want to reposition the File Size column simply drag it to the spot on the bar where you want it to be.
