Who The Hell Is Troy Dillinger???
His first International tour came at the age of 18, with LA wild man Dino Lee's "Godz Among Men." A memorable trip, Dillinger lost his front teeth on the first night of the 3 week tour when he was hit in the mouth with a quart of beer thrown by an irate fan.
After BFH's breakup and a year hiatus from music, Dillinger hired on with the Rolling Stones for their "Steel Wheels" Tour, where his love for music was rekindled, giving him new interest and direction.

A memorable tour, Dillinger lost his front teeth on the first night of the 3 week tour when he was hit in the mouth with a quart of beer thrown by an irate fan.
After yet another hiatus from music in 1996, he teamed up with new musicians under the "Del Dragons" banner and recorded the band's first full-length recording, "Southern Jumbo." The CD was self-released in the US, and on the DixieFrog/MSI label in Europe and led to a 2 month tour of Europe in mid-1998.
In 2001-2002, Troy Dillinger has honed his songwriting and performance to a wistful yet silly, energetic and engaging informal relationship with his audience.

Moving in a different direction, Dillinger collaborated with the highly prolific and experimental vocalist Mike Patton on the Irony Is A Dead Scene EP (review available here), while at the same time posting a no-vocals version of "43% Burnt" on their website and accepting recordings in order to find a new singer.
Dillinger's fanbase took another hit from the experiment, with many saying that they had lost their roots and were becoming mainstream.
With Miss Machine, it would seem Dillinger isn't bothered by the absence of loyalty from much of their fanbase, and are in fact moving to alienate many of their original fans.

The Troy Dillinger "Dirty & Hairy" Film Festival
While most musicians are content with creating one music video per album, Austin musician Troy Dillinger wasn't satisfied until he'd brought 11 different Dirty and Hairy songs to life as short films.
After two near-death experiences in as many years, Dillinger makes a triumphant return as the creative driving force behind the 11 short films based on the songs of his new critically acclaimed CD, Dirty and Hairy.
Dillinger's "Dirty and Hairy" Film Festival DVD is the result of collaborative efforts between Austin’s film and music communities and a partnership with the Austin Music Network (AMN), the only independent music channel in the world airing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

CD Baby: TROY DILLINGER: Dirty & Hairy
After nearly two years recovering from what should've been a fatal accident while on tour, this is the 'lucky' 7th release for Dillinger in his 20 year career.
The songs were written mostly in 2002-2003, while he was on tour with Austin musican Bob Schneider, while recovering from a head injury sustained in a rollover accident during a solo tour of the western US, and as he recovered from a near-fatal bout with pneumonia later that year.
Dillinger credits the huge stylistic change to the new perspective he gained as a result of his near-death experiences and to McNabb's production, in which he was challenged to represent his songs in a way he would never have attempted before.

More than short films, more than just music videos, more than entertaining, more than just some piece of self-promotion; Dillinger hopes the "Dirty and Hairy" Film Festival will show artists how to get their work seen and positively affect everyone that comes into contact with their creations.

The Dillinger Escape Plan is a band synonymous with pushing boundaries, and taking their music to extremes that were as yet unheard of when they arrived on the underground scene in the late ‘90s.
Being more of a live band than studio recluses, they have toured virtually non-stop since their inception, building the reputation of a band of musician’s musicians who throw down in front of thirty people or three thousand.
Perhaps that is truly the brilliance of this band, having the ability to allow the music to run away from the confines of predictability yet all the while maintaining control of the process.
