According to initial reports, Papamichail was vacationing at his country home in the seaside resort of Ermioni, in the Peloponnese, when he felt unwell.
Papamichail, born in the port city of Piraeus in 1934, had attended the National Theatre's Drama Academy and had made his first appearance on the stage with the play "Ekavi" in 1955.
Papamichail is survived by his son Yiannis, from his marriage with the late actress Aliki Vouyouklaki in 1965.
