Mon April 25 2005 09:02 AM "Dinah" Jammed a 51 dog Amateur this past weekend at the Jayhawk RC trial in Kansas.
She was one of 8 dogs left to play in the water in the last series.
She also joins Bill's other two females from long ago out of "Surf", "Artic Gale" and "AFC Artic Sunshine Sally", that were also amateur trained and handled by Bill as young dogs and reached the QAA level before the age of 3.

Immortal's story to be equally full of humor and pain, and the added character of Dinah Soar and their realationship only made it that much better.

After the death of his Jurassic love interest Dinah Soar in #1, Mr Immortal has descended into severe depression.
With their ranks thus diminished the GLA take it upon themselves to start a recruitment drive with inevitably rubbish results.

Songbird is blocking Dinah’s attacks with a sound shield, but Dinah uses her own sound power to dissolve Songbird’s wings and shield.
He tells her that the other three are down, and that if she just surrenders that it will go better for her because she doesn’t have a record yet.
Songbird says that she doesn’t want any help, but Dinah dodges one of MACH-1’s blasts and that as she does so Songbird hits her.

Immortal is suicidal throughout the issue, because he’s finally realized how crappy his power is (and he’s had a life to make Titania’s look idyllic).
His teammates (beautifully rendered by the exuberant Pelletier, including a cameo of a fully functional Scarlet Witch) come to affective life, with hints at backstory for Big Bertha and Dinah Soar, if not yet for Flatman or Doorman.
The gags do come amidst the drama, visual jokes that Pelletier pulls off despite his Bagley-esque command of anatomy and facial expression.

I know Surfer has always been second string, and that's kind of what intrigued me. And, now, thinking about the early issues, it's almost like the field that keeps Surfer on the earth is a great metaphor for the limits of the Surfer's stories/situation.
Maybe Stan's subconcious was kicking....just when it looks like the Surfer (and the stories) can really start to soar, bam the barrier kicks in and knocks everything to earth.
I'm guessing Stan kept him on earth to keep the whole NYC, gritty realism thing he liked in working order, but I'll admit, it just didn't really work.
