		Tampa City Councilman John Dingfelder has chosen to denigrate the act of prayer by asking a leader from the Atheists of Florida to deliver the invocation before the July 29 meeting.
		Normally, a priest, minister, or rabbi is chosen to deliver a non-denominational prayer, appealing to the grace, favor, and wisdom of a “higher power.” In a ludicrous attempt to be tolerant to all viewpoints, Michael Harvey, a proud atheist, has been asked to perform his equivalent to prayer.
		Though atheism — by definition — precludes itself from prayer, Councilman Dingfelder has chosen to offer a cheap shot to all people of faith by inviting an atheist to lead the invocation, which is a sacred appeal to Almighty God.

	Hillsborough: Condos on Maas Bros. site approved
		Council member John Dingfelder cast the dissenting vote on the project on the site of the former Maas Bros. department store after the developer refused to contribute even $1 to the city's efforts to turn Zack Street into a two-way road.
		The Wood Partners condo project on Franklin Street is worth probably $150-million, he said, and the developers should be able to find some money in their budget to help the city with one of its priority projects.
		The developer's attorney, Truett Gardner, said the company already is paying $2-million to meet the requirements of the city's public art ordinance as well as transportation, storm water, water and other impact fees.
