During the late 1940's the interior of all the dining cars was remodelled to accommodate 40 patrons.
The dining cars were almost exclusively used on the Perth to Kalgoorlie services and their regular operation ceased with the running of the last "Westland Express" in 1969.
A scheme of plain green covered the car throughout the 50's and in 1966 a larch green and cream livery was applied and this is retained today.

We are actively seeking funds for the restoration of the dining car.
This put 11 original Union Pacific tables in the car, a 12th table has been installed but we had to use one from an Amtrak diner that was scrapped a number of years ago.
The car was picked up at Monad Railway Equipment, La Mirada, California by the BNSF Monday August 8, 2005 and car was in Phoenix on Friday.

BMCX 1363 "Moose Lake This car was built in 1954 by Pullman-Standard in Chicago for the Canadian National Railroad, and operated across Canada and across Michigan en route to Chicago on Canadian National's first-class trains.
This car was donated to Bluewater in 2003, and will be used as a food service/dining car once restored.
This car needs extensive body work, and when completed, will be re-painted in the vintage Canadian National paint scheme of green and fl with maple leaf logos.

There were up to 3 sittings for each meal and a dining car steward would go through the first class section of the train to take passengers preferences.
It was converted to a Cafeteria car in the late 1950's and had a seating capacity of 22.

HISTORIC BACKGROUND: Dining Car no. 369 was one of fourteen identical cars built for the Union Pacific Railroad in 1921 by the Pullman Car and Manufacturing Company.
The car has table seating for 36 people as well as a full kitchen, complete with wood-fired range, steamtable, ice boxes, hot and cold running water, and even a charcoal broiler.
