Dionisius the Wise Man   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
Dionisius is a wise man. Whoever he is, he is evidently not foolish enough to admit that he wrote this vile and unworthy attack on those good Catholics who reject the pseudo-papacy of Karol Wojtyla - hence he uses a pseudonym.
Dionisius speaks of "the bishop who has legitimately been designated to occupy the Chair of Peter in Rome and who has so been acknowledged by the entire visible Church." There are two things wrong with this statement.
Dionisius asks (and answers) "How is it possible for subjects to prove with moral certainty that their ruler, in his heart of hearts (i.e., within himself), actually hopes and wishes to cause and bring evil upon his subjects and that it is on account of this evil will that he promulgates such evil laws?

Within the walls of the St. Ferapont's Monastery there stands the Resurrection Cathedral where all the interiors were once fresco-painted by Dionisius, one of the most famous Russian icon-artists.
The works on the painting inside the cathedral were finished in 1502 by a group of painters led by Dionisius, then already a well-known painter.
The Ferapontovo cathedral was Dionisius' last work - and, by a coincidence or not, the best-preserved one.
