		Quill pens made from the feathers of such large birds as geese, ravens, and swans were common during the sixth century B.C. Crow quills were used for fine line work and the name is still used today for its steel substitute.
		The pen holder with nib, known as the dip pen, is still the most common pen for fine artwork and calligraphy.
		Since the pen is loaded by dipping it into the ink, rather than through an internal reservoir such as that of a fountain pen, dried ink can easily be removed by cleaning or by redissolving in the same ink.

		Definition: A method for nanoscale patterning of surfaces by the transfer of a material from the tip of a scanning probe microscope onto the surface.
