	Militant hand seen in Diphu jailbreak
		DIPHU, (ASSAM) June 11: One prisoner was killed and 37 others, including prisoners and policemen, were injured when police opened fire to foil a jailbreak attempt here on Tuesday.
		Yesterday's jail-break attempt incidentally took place in the very presence of the district deputy commissioner and the district superintendent of police while they were trying to pacify a group of agitated under-trial prisoners.
		When the jail authorities informed the district authorities that the inmates had refused to take food to press for their demands and that they wanted an audience with the deputy commissioner himself, both the DC as well as the SP rushed to the spot.

		DIPHU, Dec 3: The KLNLF has held both the State Government and the Centre responsible for the ‘custodial killings’ of seven of its cadres between May 30 and July 25 last at Langlokso allegedly by the jawans of the 11th Garwal Rifle.
		The KNA believes that the creation of a separate administrative council for the Kuki-inhabited areas, including parts of Bokajan and Diphu subdivisions, was the only way to end the unrest.

	NSCN (I-M) kills 10 policemen in Assam ambush
		The police convoy, comprising four vehicles, was returning from Barlangphar, about 20 km from violence-battered Diphu, after apprehending suspected extremists, when the NSCN (IM) militants sprayed it with bullets for more than 10 minutes from automatic weapons, killing all the policemen on the spot and critically injuring four.
		The convoy was led by the ASP, who is now battling for his life at the Diphu civil hospital along with two constables and one civilian.
		The whereabouts of the detained militant, who was in the convoy, is not yet known.

	Army to be called in Karbi Anglong
		According to official sources, 5,000 dimasas have fled the relief camps in Karbi Anglong to neighbouring Nagaon and North Cachar Hills districts where they are in majority while 1,000 Karbis had taken shelter in and around the district headquarter town of Diphu.
		The body of one person was recovered from Karbi village of Tissobasti, under Diphu police station, where unidentified miscreants set ablaze 23 houses Monday night, the police added.
